Woke up to news today of Lexi Thompson's retirement.
Like most young golf phenoms, Lexi played competive golf from the age of 12 and turned Pro in the year 2010. At 29 years young, she's won 11 times on tour (1 major in 2014) and pointed out in her U.S Women's open presser that professional golf is all she's known. That's an eye opener.
She's a fan favorite and always makes time for fans. I personally witnessed this during the Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia back in 2015. Like many other spectators, I was waiting outside the scoring tent for players to drop by the autograph zone. At the time, I spotted Lexi who had just submitted her score card and let's just say you could tell she didn't have a good round.
Nevertheless, she came over with a big smile, interacted with the fans and obliged everyone who waited for an autograph and photograph.
It's no surprise she such a good ambassador for women's golf. Like her golf, I am sure she will excel in the next chapter of her life and wish her nothing but the best! Hoping she caps off her last season with a bang.
